Single Touch Payroll Deadline this 30 September?
Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a new electronic system where
businesses report payroll details to the ATO. STP became
compulsory for large employers from 1st July 2018 (20+ employees).
Today's final Budget results for 2018-19, show the Budget returning to balance for the first time in eleven
years.
The Australian Government budget sets out the economic and fiscal outlook for Australia and includes expenditure and revenue estimates for
the current financial year, the budget year and three forward financial years. It shows the Government's social and political priorities and
how the Government intends to achieve these. The deficit was just $0.7 billion. And, this year, the Budget will return to surplus.

reveals a nearly 2.5-day decline in late-payment times in July across Australia -- the biggest June-to-July drop in three years.

The new rule was unveiled as part of the 2018-19 federal budget. It will take effect for all payments made from 1 July this year,
for income tax returns lodged for the 2019–20 financial year and beyond. According to the ATO, the new rule aims to level the playing field
where businesses pay workers in cash to avoid PAYG withholding obligations, and where contractors do not provide an ABN or withhold any tax
